Interview Number Two: Moonrise kingdom

This week I’m interviewing a woman named Jordann1017420_10200569110363677_1794031389_na about movies

Me: What is your name?

Jordana: Jordana, I’m a junior at Suny Purchase and I’am a journalism major

Me: Ok cool, What is one of your favorite movies?

Jordana: one of my favorite movies is the film Moonrise kingdom

Me: Why is it one of your favorites?

Jordana: Because it’s a great indy movies, and i love it from a cinematographic aspect. I like how the plot is something new and fresh, as opposed to a lot of love stories which follow this sort of romeo and Juliet formula that follow a strict basic plot line which is predictable and unexciting where as moonrise kingdom is more new and fresh.

Me: Is one of the reasons why you like it because the characters seem more realistic

Jordana: Yes absolutely  , and I like uh the placement of the other characters, and i like how a lot of the supporting characters are um a little more profound than you would find in a lot of movies and they’re more distinct and memorable. M

Me: What do you like about moonrise kingdom’s ascetic?

Jodrana: I love the use of reds, greens and blues. I remember the first time I saw it. I’m the kind of person who will pause a movie and look at what im seeing just to look at the importance of it, even in the first shot of the movie i could describe it if thats cool

Me: Totally

Jordana: The first shot of the movie I believe is the camera in the house and uh, the picture of a red house and as soon as i saw that i paused it and said “this house is important and the color red is important” and then as you keep going there’s a lot of red in the rooms. and i believe the first shot with her and her little brother there’s a lot of red and like pastels and pale colors, however the brother’s music box is blue which makes it distinct

Me: now what about side characters, I know bruce willis is in it how do you feel about the protagonist being adopted by Bruce Willis who is a park ranger.

Jordana:I felt a very strong father presence in his character throughout the movie, i feel like that was the point bruce’s character was always worried “what’s gonna happen to him after all this is over” and he’s always arguing with the one character who is called social services, its hilarious she doesn’t have a real name she even calls herself social services hahah!.

Me: Do you recall the scene where its just the two lovers on the beach and they have a nice tent set up. What do you think about the physical interactions do you think going to second base was inappropriate in any way?

Jordana:that’s my favorite part of the movie, I feel like that those characters are more mature socially, they’re on a different level. so i feel as if it’s expected and you know thats how far as it goes. I also really loved the song, i love the music in the movie.
